Comprehensive Care

Our highly qualified surgeons are extremely skilled and sub-specialized in their respective fields of eye surgery and plastic surgery. Unlike many cosmetic clinics that are owned and operated by a single doctor, we employ a medical ‘dream team’ that brings laser eye care, cosmetic eye surgery and medical spa services together under one roof. Together, we have over 40 years of collective experience in delivering solutions perfected and personalized to your needs.

Still, the process of delivering excellent aesthetic outcomes and stellar customer service every time doesn’t just happen. Beyond the skill and experience of our doctors at our clinic, we have also developed best practices to ensure you receive the most comprehensive care possible. It all starts with the initial consultation. With your comfort uppermost in mind, your specific needs will be discussed and your doctor will examine the conditions you would like to change. He will answer your questions and share his opinion as to what can be accomplished by surgery for your particular situation.

Continuity Of Care

Our clinic provides the safest and most advanced medical and surgical solutions to vision care and cosmetic eye surgery. Also, our doctors engage in continuous research and skills upgrading as well as employing the most proven techniques to achieve your ultimate vision and universal beauty.

We have chosen to make continuity of care one of our highest priorities, meaning that from your very first visit to U Eye Laser Cosmetic, you are treated as a patient for life. Whatever your procedure, we look at the whole U, your lifestyle, your health and beauty concerns, your medical history, your goals and plans for the future. Then when you visit us again, you can rest assured that not only are you in good hands medically, we also know what your big picture is.

Presbyopia

Age may bring wisdom and understanding, but unfortunately there is a downside: the physical degeneration of the body, including one’s precious eyesight. Anybody who once watched curiously as an older relative squinted at a newspaper, unable to see the print right in front of their face, suddenly understands the problem upon reaching middle age; we may not have heard of the term ‘presbyopia’, but we know that without reading glasses, doing close work is difficult if not impossible.

Presbyopia is a condition that develops naturally with age, wherein the eye displays a progressively limited ability to focus on near objects. Though the condition is not fully understood, research indicates that a loss of elasticity of the crystalline lens is the culprit, although changes in the lens’ curvature and gradual loss of power of the muscles that bend and straighten the lens may also be at fault. The signs of presbyopia usually appear between the ages of 40 and 50 years, and are almost always made worse by dim light.

The symptoms of presbyopia include:

Eyestrain/fatigued eyes

Headaches when performing close work

Difficulty seeing in dim light

Problems focusing on small objects or fine print

Blurred vision when transitioning between near and far viewing distances

Fortunately, solutions for presbyopia have advanced significantly in recent years. The UELC clinic is proud to offer new surgical procedures for those who do not want to wear glasses or contact lenses, including the implantation of accommodative intraocular lenses.

Presbyopic (refractive) lens exchange is a procedure used to correct presbyopia for patients who want to reduce their dependence on reading glasses or contact lenses. Using essentially the same procedure that has been used for millions of cataract surgery patients, the RLE procedure involves removing the eye’s natural lens and replacing it with an artificial lens implant. Multifocal intraocular lenses are used that allow the eye to focus for distance as well as close up.

Another treatment option for the correction of presbyopia is known as laser blended vision. This procedure, performed in patients at our clinic, uses laser refractive surgery to correct the dominant eye mainly for distance vision and the other eye mainly for near vision, while correcting for an increased distance range (depth of field) in both eyes. As a result, the brain creates a ‘blend zone’ which is in focus for both eyes. This allows you to see near, intermediate and far distances without glasses.

Often our patients ask us about the benefits of surgery for correcting presbyopia. At UELC, we are delighted to let patients know the good news: over 99 percent of patients who undergo lens exchange surgery recover their full distance vision without needing glasses or contact lenses, and over 80 percent of patients using the multifocal lens do not even require reading glasses. Moreover, with any surgery to correct presbyopia, the risk of developing a cataract (clouding of the lens), which is significant in patients over 60 years and even younger for those with severe refractive errors, is completely eliminated.

Because our clinic is a world-class surgical facility offering premium care, our highly trained eye surgeons are at your service. We will be able to prescribe the perfect course of action to treat your presbyopia during a complimentary consultation. Do not wait; call us to find out about all your options for clear vision.
