Nd:YAG · 1064 nm
One of the deepest-penetrating lasers in medicine. It reaches the layer where collagen is built and gently, controllably heats it — triggering your body’s own collagen renewal with remarkable precision and minimal effect on the tissue around it. The result is gradual, physiologic, and long-lasting: your skin doing the work.
Er:YAG · 2940 nm
Absorbed almost entirely by water right at the surface, the Er:YAG refines texture and tone with pinpoint precision and very little heat spread — while the Nd:YAG works below. Treating multiple depths together is the “four-dimensional” idea behind Fotona 4D.
We didn’t meet the Nd:YAG laser in a spa. It’s the same laser family our ophthalmologists use inside the eye every day — for YAG capsulotomy and laser iridotomy, where there’s no margin for collateral damage. We bring that same command of the laser to your skin.

What is Fotona 4D, and how does it work?
Fotona 4D is a non-surgical laser facial that uses two laser wavelengths — Er:YAG at the surface and Nd:YAG deeper down — to treat several layers of skin in one session. The deep Nd:YAG energy gently heats the dermis to stimulate your body’s own collagen, while the Er:YAG refines surface texture. The result is firmer, smoother skin that improves gradually, with no injectables and minimal downtime.
Is there downtime, and does it hurt?
Fotona treatments are designed to be comfortable and low-downtime — most people feel warmth during the session and some mild redness afterward that settles quickly. Because much of the work is deep collagen stimulation rather than surface ablation, you can typically return to your day soon after. We’ll tell you what to expect for your specific treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
Most Fotona treatments work best as a short course spaced a few weeks apart, with results building over the following weeks and months as new collagen forms. The exact number depends on the treatment and your goals — we’ll map out a realistic plan at your consultation rather than over-promising.
Does laser snoring treatment (NightLase) actually work?
NightLase uses gentle Nd:YAG laser energy to warm and tighten the soft-palate tissue that vibrates during snoring. Many people notice quieter, more restful sleep over a short course of treatments — with no appliance to wear and no surgery. It won’t suit every cause of snoring or sleep-disordered breathing, so we assess whether you’re a good candidate first.
What is HairRestart, and is the PRP safe?
HairRestart combines laser therapy with PRP — platelet-rich plasma made from a small sample of your own blood, rich in growth factors. Because it’s entirely your own, there’s no risk of allergic reaction. At UELC the PRP is prepared and administered by highly trained registered nurses, to strict clinical standards — the same regenerative therapy we provide for dry-eye disease at the U Dry Eye Institute.

Fotona is a well-established medical laser platform, and the Nd:YAG wavelength at its core is one our ophthalmologists use routinely inside the eye.
